Steven Burguiere, originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in Yonkers, NY, and Danbury, CT, is the Lead Bartender at The Independent and Eliza’s at The George Hotel in Georgetown, SC. Steven's journey in the hospitality industry began as a barback during his college years at the University of South Carolina. He quickly fell in love with the creative aspects of bartending, which offered him an opportunity to engage with the community in a meaningful way. His foundational experience came from Hendrix, a notable restaurant in Columbia, SC, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of Gabriel King. This invaluable mentorship inspired Steven to bring his passion for craft cocktails to the Lowcountry region. 

Now, as a Lead Bartender, Steven is responsible for crafting seasonal cocktail recipes, managing bar inventory, and educating both staff and guests about various spirits, wines, and beers. He takes pride in sourcing ingredients locally to create a unique bar program that highlights the flavors of Georgetown. Steven’s dedication to the craft has allowed him to bring an elevated mixology experience to the area. When he’s not behind the bar, he’s in front of it, shooting his concoctions as a cocktail photographer on the side.
